Since its inception, IUCF has grown into one of the largest particle accelerators in the United States. In addition to its scientific endeavors, IUCF has a COVID-19 Vaccination Program aimed at providing vaccines to underserved communities throughout Indiana through mobile clinics. The facility is home to many different research projects including studies on correlation between certain types of radiation and cancer risk; isotope production methods; development of fast neutron radiotherapy beams; development of radiation sources such as cobalt-60 sources and radioactive carbon-14 sources; and fusion systems that use lasers or electric fields for producing high power energy output.
