What does ISRB mean in RESEARCH

ISRB offers a wide range of tactical and strategic intelligence and security solutions for countering terrorism. This includes technical surveillance counter-measures, counter-intelligence operations, analysis and assessment, training and capacity building, as well as research and development activities.

ISRB was established in 2002 as an intelligence agency that is directly attached to the Indian Prime Minister's Office. It is tasked with gathering data about terrorist organisations, foreign governments, cyber warfare, drug trafficking and other transnational criminal activities.

The activities of ISRB are overseen by a multi-agency committee comprising representatives from different Indian security agencies such as Intelligence Bureau, Research & Analysis Wing (R&AW), Military Intelligence Directorate, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) etc.

In order to fulfil its objectives, ISRB conducts research in areas related to national security threats such as terrorism, cybercrime and international organised crime. The research focuses on understanding the nature of threats faced by India from these sources so that preventive measures can be taken against them.

Some notable achievements made by ISRB include assisting in foiling several terrorist attacks planned against civilians in various parts of India; providing real time information about terrorist organisations operating across borders; monitoring activities related to illegal financial transactions; carrying out extensive surveillance operations against such organisations; providing critical analysis on cyber security threats faced by India from nation states as well as non-state actors; and creating awareness among law enforcement agencies about cybercrime trends.
