After two years of campaigning against official apathy and lack of transparency, they decided to form a political party to bring about change in electoral politics.

They believe that policy decisions should be taken after consulting experts from various fields instead of leaving it up to elected representatives alone. Moreover, they advocate for protecting human rights as well as economic self-sufficiency among the rural farmers across India. As for economic issues, AAP promotes frugal living accompanied with progressive taxation policies for corporations.

Achievements

Since its formation in 2012, Aam Aadmi Party has accomplished many feats including forming governments both at Delhi Assembly as well as Punjab Assembly respectively. In 2013 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections AAP won 28 out 70 seats allowing them to form government with outside support from Congress though it ended up lasting only 49 days due to some internal differences with then Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung on several issues like Jan Lokpal Bill etc. In 2015 again AAP emerged victorious by winning 67 out 70 seats allowing them to form government with absolute majority this time around with Kejriwal being sworned into office next day. More recently in 2017 Punjab Assembly elections, AAP surprised everyone by emerging as second largest party after Shiromani Akali Dal alliance resulting into hung assembly where no single coalition was able to get majority. In all these cases AAP showed its strength of coming at second spot beating heir rival congress party which failed even to touch double digit mark.
