What does IRCF mean in INTERNATIONAL

The International Reptile Conservation Foundation (IRCF) is a non-profit organization focused on conserving reptile species and their associated habitats worldwide, while promoting public education and interest in herpetology. It strives to promote the safe, legal, and responsible use of reptiles for research, conservation, display, recreation and education.

IRCF actively participates in a variety of activities to further its mission. At this point, we focus mainly on lizards, snakes, turtles/tortoises, frogs/toads, amphisbaenids/worm lizards and caecilians found all over the world including North America's most commonly seen ones like Garter snakes and Leopard frogs but also those found more remote areas like Siberian salamanders or Central American iguanas. We hope to expand our reach further as we continue to grow!

Our annual operating budget varies from year-to-year depending on donations received from individuals as well as grants awarded from private foundations and government agencies. We strive to make sure that every dollar donated goes toward actively preserving reptile populations throughout the world.

Yes! Our Reptiles at Risk Fund provides grants for field research projects dedicated to species conservation as well as relocation efforts where native populations are dwindling due to human activity or disease epidemics. Additionally, there are several other funds designated toward highlighting education initiatives within marginalized communities globally and providing recognition awards for outstanding accomplishments within herpetology worldwide.
