What does INO mean in UNCLASSIFIED

Indian National Olympiad (INO) is a national level examination conducted by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). It is an annual assessment of a student's aptitude in Science, Mathematics and other related subjects. The exam serves as a platform to identify talented students and give them the necessary push towards becoming world-class scientists.

All Indian students who are currently pursuing Class 3 or higher academic stream can appear for INO.

INO comprises of three stages - Prelims, Regionals and National. The Prelims consist of various tests which assess a student's knowledge in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The Regional exam tests the students' skills in the above-mentioned subjects through multiple choice questions and essay writing tasks. Lastly, the National Exam evaluates an aspirant's understanding through value-based questions, problem solving, written essays etc.

Candidates must qualify both the Prelims and Regionals exams to be eligible to move onto the National rounds of INO. The score obtained in both these levels will be used to determine an individual's selection into the National phase of the competition.

To apply for INO, candidates must fill up an online application form which will require certain personal details such as name, date of birth, address etc., along with educational qualifications attained till date and two passport size photographs

Coaching is not completely necessary; however it can work as a great advantage if someone wants guidance from experienced professionals in their areas of interest or reach advanced levels having gone through every minute detail pertaining to various subject matters.
