What does INCA mean in CANCER

The International Neuroendocrine Cancer Alliance (INCA) is an organization dedicated to advancing awareness and understanding of neuroendocrine cancer throughout the world. The symptoms associated with neuroendocrine tumors vary depending on where in the body it is located; however, some common symptoms can include abdominal pain or discomfort; chronic diarrhea; unusual weight loss/gain; weakness or fatigue; shortness of breath; facial flushing; and coughing up blood.

Several drugs have been approved for treating NETs, including Everolimus (Afinitor®), Sunitinib (Sutent®), Lanreotide (Somatuline Autogel®), Octreotide (Sandostatin® LAR Depot) and Temozolomide (Temodar®). In addition, some patients may benefit from taking certain vitamins or natural supplements like Omega-3 fatty acids.

While there has not been a great deal of research done on dietary interventions for NETs yet, many experts believe that diet can play an important role in managing both symptoms and overall health in patients living with this condition. Some recommended food components include avoiding processed foods high in sugar and fat while emphasizing fresh vegetables/fruits and proteins.
