Description
INAO offers a unique platform for prospective members to show their knowledge and skills in astronomy. This examination tests the ability of a student to comprehend the basic laws of physics pertaining to space, analyze astronomical data, and evaluate observational techniques used by scientists. It includes three stages - prelims, mains and finals. The prelims are conducted all over India at various schools every year in December-January followed by mains aims at honing skills like observation technique, data analysis interpretation etc. Finally there is an advanced round (finals) for selection of top 10 individuals who get to participate in International Astronomy Olympiads (IAOs). IAOs introduce participants to concepts like celestial mechanics, astrophysics and cosmology which helps them broaden their scientific horizons.
