What does AMEC mean in NAVY

Position Description

The primary duties of an AMEC include ensuring that all aircraft safety-related systems are inspected, tested, repaired and maintained to the highest standards set by the U.S. Navy. They must be able to correctly identify any potential problems with these systems and take steps to correct them before they can cause any real damage or affect the safety of those on board the aircraft. To ensure this process runs smoothly, they will need to keep comprehensive records of all work performed on-board aircraft as well as its components and parts. Additionally, it is important that AMECs maintain strong working relationships with other members of their units so that they can collaborate when necessary on any issues which might arise during flights or inspections conducted by other entities such as the Federal Aviation Administration or other military branches’ personnel.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for an AMEC are wide ranging but mainly focus on ensuring that all aircraft related safety systems are functioning properly at all times. These may include verifying that fuel tanks are appropriately sealed and free from debris; evaluating fuel levels; checking fire extinguishers are charged; conducting electrical audits on navigation systems; verifying oxygen supply levels; reviewing hydraulic pressure readings; testing brakes; assessing wings flap positions; testing signals lights functionality and inspecting flight control surfaces for wear or damage among many other tasks depending on the particular needs of each aircraft type being operated by their unit. As well as performing these checks themselves, it is also important for experienced AMECs to oversee more junior personnel ensuring that they complete their work accurately while also training them up where appropriate so they can eventually take over more senior roles within their team if needed.
