What does ICOG mean in UNCLASSIFIED

ICOG stands for In the City Off the Grid. It refers to people living in urban settings who exist, operate and maintain their lifestyle without reliance on public utility systems.

Some people choose off-grid living as a way of embracing environmental sustainability and reducing their dependence on consumption habits that require energy from public utilities.

While off-grid lifestyles are certainly possible in a city setting, they usually require more advanced preparation and knowledge compared to those living in rural settings. People must be more creative when it comes to sourcing renewable energy sources and other essentials that would normally be provided by public utilities.

Because we are disconnecting from typical safety measures available through local infrastructure such as a power line being monitored by the fire department or natural gas lines inspected regularly by qualified professionals; one may have exposure to potentially hazardous area due to these types of activities becoming our own responsibility if we go “off grid”.
