Background

The International Cooperation and Economic Problems Development Institute (ICEPD) was founded in Rome in 1971 as an intergovernmental institution aiming to promote cooperation between developed and developing countries. Its main goal is to improve global economic conditions through the implementation of various projects aimed at stimulating economic growth, including infrastructure development, technology transfer, access to financing, and regional integration. The institute also works to support small businesses in developing countries by providing guidance and training on business-related matters. ICEPS collaborates with various international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF), University of Rome Tor Vergata (URTV), International Center for Research Strategy(ICRS), etc., to enhance policy dialogues that address global economic concerns.

Programs & Projects

To achieve its objectives, ICEPS undertakes a variety of activities within three distinct areas: Human Resources Development; Sectoral Support; Globalization Impacts Analysis. In terms of Human Resources Development measures undertaken currently include programs such as NESTEAD which focuses on increasing women’s participation in the workforce by innovating financing instruments targeting education and skills enhancement; alternatively there are programs focusing on youth employment such as Gr@nde which provides innovative mechanisms for apprenticeships and entrepreneurship creation among young workers especially from low income backgrounds.Furthermore they are programs targeting environmental protection such as the Compensated Reduction Program implemented together with UNIDO or REDD+ program linked with FAO that provide technical assistance related with efficient practices against land degradation in terms of agricultural practises or conservation techniques; likewise they have collaborated together with WB funding initiatives targeted towards health services implementation like Health Assistance Programmes implemented both domestically and internationally across Africa or South Asia respectively.
