What does IATP mean in INTERNATIONAL

The International Academy of Toxicologic Pathology (IATP) is a professional society that promotes the advancement of toxicological pathology and the professional development of its members. Our members come from all over the world and represent academic and industry researchers, veterinary pathologists, medical scientists, regulatory colleagues, risk assessors, epidemiologists, clinical pathologists, and other professionals.

To become a member of IATP applicants must complete an online application form which can be found on our website. Candidates must hold at least a two-year degree in science or medicine associated with toxicologic pathology or one year if pursued post graduate study related to toxicologic pathology that is recognized by the IATP Academic Council.

Yes! There are three types of membership categories within IATP – Members Under Study (MUS), Full Member (FM) or Fellow Member (FF). MUS members are individuals who are currently pursuing their studies in toxicology pathology or related fields; FM members have completed their studies; FF members have existing knowledge, skills and experience within toxicological pathology to fulfill more senior roles such as lecturing or research projects associated with toxicological pathology.

We offer several forms of education including symposia, seminars and workshops which provide expertise regarding advances in research methodology for conducting laboratory studies involving animal models as well as review topics pertinent to basic interpretation concerning toxicity assessment from laboratory data obtained from laboratory animal models. Furthermore we produce several publications which include reviews summarizing recent progress made in research involving toxicologic pathology as well as case studies from real life scenarios involving evaluation processes based on toxicity testing data from laboratory animals.

Yes! All participants will receive a Certificate of Completion that can be used towards Continuing Professional Development activities
