HSMC has been a staple in Manatee County since 1971 when several organizations dedicated to animal welfare came together to form one combined entity. The main focus of this unified group was increasing awareness about humane treatment of animals while also dedicating resources towards protecting them from mistreatment or neglect. These days, HSMC carries out these same goals while offering many services that support the health and well-being of animals in the local area. With an emphasis on rescue and adoption efforts, their lobby location serves as both an intake center for abandoned pets as well as an inviting setting where individuals can meet potential new family members up close. In addition to adoptions, they maintain an inventory of pet supplies that are available for purchase at discounted prices and provide low-cost spay/neuter services that help reduce pet homelessness caused by overpopulation throughout the county.

Outreach & Education
