What does HSF mean in UNIVERSITIES

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is a non-profit organization based in the United States dedicated to helping students with financial need who are of Hispanic heritage achieve their goals of higher education. HSF provides students with opportunities, resources, information and support in order to obtain a college degree and reach their potential.

To be eligible for an HSF scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following criteria: Be of Hispanic Heritage; Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; Plan to enroll full-time in an accredited four-year university or graduate school during the upcoming academic year; Must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents; Be available to attend one of our Scholar Weekend events which are held around the country each year.

You will need to complete all required fields within the application and ensure that you have provided supporting documents such as transcripts, resume, personal statement and letters of recommendation prior to submitting your application

The selection process is based on merit – every applicant’s record is assessed by at least two qualified reviewers who review each candidate’s academic performance, leadership abilities, community involvement/service and financial need when making their final decision. During this process we also take into account whether or not an applicant has demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career goal related to his/her field of study as well as hardships overcome by the family/applicant that may impact his/her educational progress.

Through our numerous scholarships and awards programs we offer students the opportunity to receive scholarships that range from $500-$5,000 depending on program type and student eligibility criteria such as GPA or enrollment status. Additionally, we provide college completion scholarships which award up to $20,000 over four years.

Applications typically open between January - March each year and close June 30th at 11 PM Pacific Time Zone (PT). We recommend that applicants begin working on their applications as soon possible since many scholarships require additional documents such as transcripts, letters of recommendation etc.

After you have submitted your application it will go through an initial screening process followed by a comprehensive review from at least two qualified reviewers who assess your overall performance using multiple criteria before making their final decisions about awarding you any scholarship funds. We typically send out notification emails regarding scholarship award decisions between late July – September each year.
