What does HSEF mean in SCHOOLS

The Hillsborough School Employees Federation (HSEF) is a nonprofit organization serving professional public education employees in Hillsborough County, Florida. Our mission is to represent our members and promote quality public education by ensuring equitable wages and benefits, maintaining job security, advocating for educational excellence, and promoting a safe and healthy environment.

HSEF provides its members with collective bargaining rights and representation when necessary. We also help our members navigate their contracts, ensure they receive due process protections, support them during workplace investigations, help them access resources available from their employers, secure wage increases or other improvements to their working conditions, and serve as their advocate in any employee disputes they may face.

To join HSEF you must be an employee of the Hillsborough County public school system or an affiliated employer such as the University of South Florida or Tampa General Hospital. Membership in Hillsborough School Employees Federation (HSEF) is voluntary for all eligible professionals employed within the district’s boundaries, even those not represented by a collective bargaining unit. However, we strongly encourage all eligible individuals to join so that together we can have greater impact in creating better working conditions for teachers and educational staff in this county.

There are no fees associated with joining the Hillsborough School Employees Federation (HSEF). All we ask for is your commitment to our cause and your time if need be. We never charge dues nor do we require our members to pay court costs should there ever be a need for legal action on behalf of our members against their employers.

Yes! As an HSEF member you are afforded assistance from our team of experienced negotiators who will work on your behalf in contract negotiations with your employer providing education around labor rights while protecting your interests throughout the negotiation process.

Absolutely! As part of our commitment to providing quality service to our members every step of the way – if faced with charges related to violations or misconduct – HSEF will provide assistance throughout any investigation process by serving as a voice for its members that may otherwise go unheard during these proceedings.

While being part of the group affords you access to many resources that could lead towards improved wages – such as assistance negotiating contracts - it ultimately comes down to whether each case can be successfully argued before the appropriate board before changes can be made across all positions.
