What does HRJ mean in UNCLASSIFIED

HRJ is a type of sustainable jet fuel derived from plant oils and animal fats that has been processed through hydrotreating to remove oxygen and sulfur.

Using HRJ can provide significant benefits in terms of sustainability, reducing emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx), particulate matter, hydrocarbon emissions and other air pollutants associated with burning traditional jet fuels. Additionally, it provides an alternative to fossil-based jet fuel.

HRJ is produced through hydrotreating renewable feedstocks such as vegetable oils and animal fats in order to convert them into usable forms with improved characteristics such as higher energy density, reduced freezing point, lower density than conventional Jet A-1 fuel or other defined blends of kerosene or diesel oil.
