What does AAMA mean in TRANSPORTATION

History of AAMA

The American Automobile Manufacturers Association was initially founded back in 1901 as an information-sharing forum between several major US car makers. This original incarnation of the association included Oldsmobile, Packard, Cadillac and many other early pioneers of the automobile industry who used it as a platform to discuss common goals and challenges which could be solved collaboratively by pooling their resources. In 1933, AAMA was reborn as an official trade association which then worked with government agencies such as the National Highway Safety Commission (NHSC) to establish regulation enforcements which would protect both the consumer from potential fraud or harm caused by deficient vehicles but also well-intentioned businesses from competitors looking to undercut them through unscrupulous practices. As times changed and technology advanced so too did regulations surrounding vehicle safety become increasingly stringent in order to keep up with evolving needs. To prepare for this ever-changing landscape of rules and regulations, AAMA created initiatives such as its Vehicle Safety Alliance Program (VSAP) which helps automakers adhere to new laws whilst educating consumers about how they can better understand their rights when purchasing new automobiles or seeking repairs for old ones.

What Does AAMA Do?

The primary purpose of the American Automobile Manufacturers Association is to represent its members' interests on legislative matters related directly or indirectly to their business operations. This includes working on legislation related to motor vehicle safety, emissions standards, fuel economy targets and any other issues that could have a direct impact on their operations or profitability. It also engages in activities involving promoting public confidence in motor vehicle safety and security through research publication or events such as roadshows where experts can discuss recent developments within this sector with interested parties. Additionally, it participates actively on standard setting committees within organizations such as OSHA or EPA where relevant topics are discussed in order for uniform regulations across different states/regions can be agreed upon.
