History

Herne Bay Football Club was founded in 1909 as Herne Bay United when two local sides merged together. They played friendly matches until joining the Kent League in 1911, where they remained until World War II broke out. During this time, their home ground was at Central Park. After WW2, they rejoined the Kent League and were champions three times between 1949 and 1958. During this period they also changed their name to Herne Bay F.C after it became a limited company run by local businessmen in 1951. In 1965 they joined the Southern Amateur Football League and then moved into the Athenian league in 1972 before being promoted to Division 2 of the Isthmian league eight years later.

Recent Times

Herne Bay F.C recently achieved promotion to Division One of the Isthmian League for 2018–19 season after finishing second in 2017–18 season; their highest ever finish since becoming a limited company back 1951 and undoubtedly one of their proudest moments..
