What does GSOP mean in PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS

The GSOP is a statewide non-profit organization representing practitioners in orthotics and prosthetics. It was founded in 1987 as a organization dedicated to providing continuing education, networking and advocacy opportunities for its members. By encouraging excellence in patient care and fostering relationships between providers, the GSOP strives to advance the profession of orthotics and prosthetics within Georgia.

All practitioners of orthotics and prosthetics who are licensed by the Georgia State Board of Orthotics and Prosthetists may become members. This includes Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist (CPO), Residency trained Prosthetist/Orthotist (RTPO) or Superspecialty Credentialed Prosthetist/Orthotist (SCP/OCP). In addition, non-licensed individuals such as students or technicians may join as associate members.

Joining the Georgia Society of Orthotists and Prosthetists provides numerous benefits to its members. These include access to networking opportunities with other professionals in the field, discounted registration fees for conferences & seminars, access to educational resources such as past conference recordings & lectures, discounts on merchandise at certain vendors & suppliers, representation at legislative level in matters pertaining to the profession, a quarterly news magazine dedicated to updates on new developments in this field & more.

The GSOP holds an Annual Meeting each year which typically includes lectures from industry experts, networking events with other professionals in the field & social activities for all attendees. Aside from that there are various other seminars & conferences held throughout the year for members which bring together speakers from around the country on various topics related to orthotics & prosthetics.

Through your GSOP membership you have access to approved Continuing Education Units (CEU's) necessary for recertification by ABC Congress every two years if you hold one or more certifications from them. These CEU's can be obtained via several different methods including attending our Annual Meeting Lecture Series or online courses offered through our website or third party vendors.

Yes! We have a "Give Back" program where donations made on behalf of members go directly towards helping support special causes directly tied into promoting health care services related specifically to orthotic and prosthetic treatment throughout state communities in need of assistance as well as financial relief programs for charities within our profession that require financial aid in order to continue offering their services resulting from insurance reimbursement cuts or otherwise drastically reduced funds received elsewhere due from large corporations shifting costs onto consumers by raising premiums.

There are many ways current members can get involved with supporting our cause without having direct volunteer work responsibilities themselves; however those interested are encouraged to do so through volunteering at local grassroots outreach programs connected with our mission statement goals or running educational campaigns on special topics assigned by fellow board members who plan out initiatives and projects designed around achieving specific goals set forth each year before renewal period starts back up again.
