What does GSID mean in NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS

GSID stands for Global Solutions for Infectious Diseases, an organization of international researchers and public health experts dedicated to developing innovative solutions to address the global burden of infectious diseases.

GSID works with partners from government, academia, industry, civil society and foundations to develop sustainable solutions that have a lasting impact on global health challenges. These include prevention strategies and treatments for existing infections, such as vaccines and drugs; diagnostics; and improved access to healthcare services.

The research conducted by GSID focuses on the epidemiology and biology of infectious diseases, as well as interventions that can be used to combat them. This includes studies on vaccine development; diagnostics; drug discovery; infection control systems; surveillance methods; interventions at the population level; policies related to healthcare delivery and access; community engagement in healthcare initiatives; data analysis and analytics; health economics research; monitoring and evaluation programs; communication strategies; advocacy campaigns; regulatory pathways for medical products development and much more.

GSID is primarily funded through grants from philanthropic organizations, foundations, national governments, multi-lateral donors such as UN agencies or international organizations like the World Bank. Additional funds are also generated through fundraising events held globally each year.
