Establishment

The GFA was established in 1957, making it one of the oldest existing football governing bodies in Africa. It consists of a number of regional and district associations that are tasked with overseeing local leagues as well as providing support to clubs and players. The GFA also administers its own disciplinary code which tackles issues such as corruption, match fixing and racism.

Programs

The GFA has developed a network of programs aimed at developing young talent across the country. Through these initiatives, it provides training sessions for coaches, referees and administrators as well as offering support for female teams, disabled players and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. It also assists local teams with kit donations and sponsorship deals aimed at furthering their development.

Achievements

In recent years, Ghanaian football has gone from strength to strength largely thanks to efforts by the GFA. In 2015 they qualified for their first ever FIFA World Cup game where they achieved an impressive victory over United States despite being underdogs in Group G. At continental level they have won two consecutive African Cup of Nations titles in 2010 and 2015 becoming only the third country in history to do so back-to-back following Egypt (2006—2008) and Cameroon (2000—2002).

Final Words:
The GFA is a vital organisation that has been pivotal in helping to grow Ghanaian football both domestically and internationally. Their hard work has resulted in great success over recent years with two consecutive African Cup of Nations wins placing their domestic teams among some of Africa's best sides while their development programmes continue to aid clubs across all levels within Ghana itself.
