What does GDK mean in COMMUNITY

Growth and Development Kelowna (GDK) is a non-profit organization that works to ensure the development of economic, social, and environmental prosperity for communities in British Columbia. We are dedicated to promoting equitable and sustainable practices that benefit both urban and rural populations. Our focus areas include but are not limited to public policy, governance, innovation, education, health care, infrastructure development and job creation.

GDK is operated by a board of directors comprised of respected business leaders, academics, engineers and professionals from various sectors. These members are dedicated to advancing the quality of life for British Columbians through innovation and collaboration.

GDK oversees a variety of initiatives ranging from land use policies to public engagement processes. Projects often involve working with governments, developers, citizens’ groups or community organizations in order to best promote empowerment through collective action on key issues such as environmental protection or economic diversification.

Funding for GDK comes from many sources including contributions from individuals who believe in our mission; grants from government ministries; capital investments from corporate partners; financial contributions from other non-profit organizations; fundraising events; grants from local foundations; member fees; sponsorships; partnerships with corporations or businesses; donations through online campaigns; investments from trusts or endowments.

There are many ways you can become involved with GDK! Any monetary contribution made towards GDK goes a long way towards sustaining the organization's core operations while also helping fund the various projects we undertake throughout British Columbia townships. Contributions can be done either directly via payments made through our website or as part of an existing initiative like a crowd-funding campaign hosted online.

Yes! We currently offer internships which give students the opportunity to gain professional experience while working alongside seasoned industry experts on meaningful research & development projects related to sustainability & responsible governance across B.C communities. These internships provide invaluable learning opportunities aimed at fostering the next generation of BC leaders capable of tackling complex contemporary challenges head-on!
