Felix von Pless (FVP) was a German industrialist and philanthropist who lived in the mid-19th century. He was born in 1820 near Berlin, Germany, and studied engineering at various universities. Following his studies, he established several businesses that were involved in iron processing, forestry, and coal mining. FVP also established cultural institutions like libraries and opera houses in many cities throughout Germany.

Felix von Pless was a generous philanthropist who made many positive contributions to society during his lifetime. He funded universities, hospitals, libraries, opera houses, theaters, schools, social institutions, labor unions, conservation efforts for forests and lakes, charities for poor people of all ages, health care centers for women and children as well as natural history museums with zoological gardens.
