What We Do
The Foundation for Sustainable Development in Africa works together with local communities and partners across the continent to find and implement innovative solutions designed to meet local needs and promote long-term sustainable development. We focus on three main programmatic areas — Health & Education; Economic & Jobs; Social Inclusion. Our projects include initiatives such as strengthening health systems, building green businesses, and engaging with recipients of our small grants program who are working on issues such as food security or combatting gender-based violence. We also run leadership development programs which engender positive change in diverse groups of people so that they can become agents of transformation within their own villages or countries.
Impact
Our work has enabled us to reach over 2 million people across 11 countries in Africa since our founding in 2011. Our initiatives have resulted in improved healthcare services, increased access to energy sources such as solar power, job creation for young entrepreneurs & women-owned businesses, increased access to clean drinking water for rural villages, as well as improved education services for thousands of children living below the poverty line. By equipping individuals with skillsets that enable them further their own development aspirations and build self-sustaining livelihoods we are helping foster economic growth across African nations while ensuring long-term community empowerment.
