What does FJP mean in POLITICS

The Freedom & Justice Party (FJP) is an Egyptian political party established in April 2011, shortly before the country's 2011-2012 parliamentary elections. It is considered one of Egypt's most influential political parties and was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood.

The mission of FJP is to build a modern democratic society that respects human rights, pluralism, and the rule of law. This includes promoting freedom, justice, equality, economic development and social justice for all Egyptians.

Currently, Dr. Essam El-Erian serves as General Leader of FJP. He was elected in 2014 and has served in this capacity since then.

The FJP advocates a wide range of social and economic policies designed to promote freedom and justice for all Egyptians. These include policies designed to reduce unemployment, improve education, strengthen labor rights and reduce poverty.

In its first parliamentary election in 2012, the FJP emerged as the largest party with 47% of all seats won. This put them in a dominant position within parliament and enabled them to pass important legislation that would ultimately pave the way for reform within Egypt.

Since then, due to various internal disputes among members and external pressures from other groups such as military forces who are opposed to their agenda, FJP has seen its power wane significantly since 2012 and it currently holds less than 10% of parliament seats.

Throughout its existence, short-lived though it may be, FJP has faced strong opposition from both domestic forces such as more hardline Islamist groups as well as international powers who have been inclined to see them as a possible threat due to their close affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Yes indeed - several cases have come up where members or activities associated with FJP were alleged to be involved with terrorist attacks or other violent acts against civilians for political motives or religious beliefs that contradict those held by most Egyptians.
