What does AAH mean in AFRICAN

The aim of AAH is to reduce poverty and improve well-being in African countries by providing access to services, advocacy and capacity building opportunities. With support from its partners, it helps local communities increase their incomes, develop sustainable solutions to social challenges and build resilience against shocks like climate change. Through its work, AAH strives to promote humanitarianism, dignity, equality and mutual respect across the continent.

AAH implements a range of innovative approaches that involve both traditional service delivery and transformative initiatives. These include providing access to financial services in rural areas; fostering agricultural practices for food security; investing in health systems for better healthcare; promoting active civic participation; strengthening existing legal frameworks; creating partnerships between governments, private sector actors, civil society groups and international donors; advocating at national level; developing human resources capacity building programmes; conducting research on relevant issues affecting African communities; and working with other organisations on cutting edge technologies such as blockchain technology.

AAH's main programs focus on economic development, health care, education and empowerment. Its financial inclusion projects provide training on financial literacy, access to capital sources for small businesses or farmers, mentoring for small business owners or start-ups and microfinance assistance for entrepreneurs. It has partnered with various other organisations such as the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to implement programs related to nutrition security and improved diet among households across Africa. Its improving infrastructure program focuses on investments such as clean water supply systems or distributed energy grids in remote regions when government coverage is lacking.
