What does FAACS mean in FORESTRY

Feasibility Assessment of Afforestation for Carbon Sequestration (FAACS) is an assessment to examine the feasibility of planting forest lands to capture and store carbon dioxide emissions.

FAACS evaluates a range of criteria including land suitability, legal/administrative complexity, economics and business models, local infrastructure, and more.

Afforestation can provide a variety of environmental, social and economic benefits such as air purification, improved water quality and soil fertility, increased habitat for wildlife species, biodiversity conservation, noise pollution reduction and recreational opportunities. Additionally, afforestation has potential to reduce global warming by storing carbon dioxide in trees.
