What does AAFF mean in ARCHITECTURE

The Architect Africa Film Festival (AAFF) is an annual event held to celebrate and recognize independent filmmakers from all over the African continent. AAFF showcases works that capture the unique spirit and culture of Africa, while also highlighting issues of social importance. AAFF serves as a platform for professionals in the film industry to discuss and share ideas, as well as create projects that can help build better awareness about various topics pertinent to the African continent.

Submissions for AAFF typically open early each year, allowing filmmakers ample time to work on their projects before the festival begins. The festival accepts feature length films, short films, animation, documentary films and experimental works.

Each year's edition of AAFF takes place in a different city in Africa. Locations are selected by a jury of film experts who review potential venues and cities based on criteria such as accessibility, infrastructure and audiences available for screenings.

Any filmmaker from anywhere in the world can submit their work to be considered for selection at AAFF provided that it relates to some aspect of African culture or life. Final selections of films will be chosen by a jury comprising mainly of local film experts.

Each year at least six awards are presented at AAFF recognizing excellence in filmmaking technique, originality in storytelling and impact on society through film making efforts. Awards categories include Best Feature Film, Best Documentary Film, Best Short Film, Best Animation/ Experimental work among others depending on the edition of the festival.

No age limit exists when submitting your work- we welcome young creators who have something important to say about their community or reality through film making mediums!
