What Does EPA Stand For?

The EPA stands for the Environmental Protection Agency. This agency was created in 1970 by President Richard Nixon with the passage of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). It is responsible for protecting human health and the environment by setting and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress. The EPA oversees air quality standards, hazardous waste management regulations, drinking water safety guidelines, pesticide use control measures, oil spill cleanup efforts, energy efficiency standards, and various other forms of environmental protection.

What Does The EPA Do?

The EPA's primary responsibility is to set regulations to protect our environment from pollutants, contaminants, toxic substances, overdevelopment of land, excessive agricultural runoff, etc., that may compromise public health or damage ecosystems.
