Reparations

Reparations are a form of compensation intended to rectify the systematic economic disadvantages caused by centuries of slavery, Jim Crow segregation laws, and other forms of discrimination against African Americans. This includes financial grants and investments in education, health care services, job training, housing initiatives, wealth building programs, access to capital for small business owners, debt forgiveness initiatives, among many other potential compensatory reforms. By advocating for reparations from institutions such as governments, companies, corporations and universities with ties to slavery—AFRE strives to bring awareness and acknowledgement of this injustice as well as create tangible solutions for healing our communities.

Emancipation

Emancipation is working towards cultural liberation from oppressive systems by dismantling white supremacy through direct actions such as protests; boycotts; divestment campaigns; education around issues like police brutality; fighting voter suppression tactics; highlighting resources such as legal assistance or community health centers; increasing investments into low-income neighborhoods; lobbying against unjust policies; providing reparations to formerly enslaved people's descendants; pushing for legislation that empowers Black people economically socially politically etc. AFRE believes that through collective struggle we can liberate ourselves from oppressive systems that hinder our advancement due true lack of representation within our government structures today.
