What does EMO mean in UNIVERSITIES

An Educational Maintenance Organization (EMO) is a public and private partnership that was created to support students in their academic success. The goal of the EMO is to provide resources, services and supports so that students can stay in school, complete their educational program and pursue college or postsecondary training.

An EMO provides assistance for other needs related to education such as career guidance, mentoring, financial aid and tutoring.

An Educational Maintenance Organization (EMO) is usually managed by both public bodies such as school districts or local governments as well as private entities like organizations with a focus on student support or businesses that benefit from increased educational attainment.

The organization has proven highly beneficial for low-income students who often lack access to other forms of academic enrichment like tutors or mentors. With access to these resources through an EMO, disadvantaged youth are better able to remain in school and achieve better academic outcomes than they would otherwise be able to accomplish without additional supports.

Generally anyone interested in participating will qualifies but some programs may have eligibility requirements such as age range or residency requirements each potential participant must meet before being accepted into the program. Additionally some programs may have limits on how much funding they are able to offer each participant based on budget availability.
