What does EFL mean in FOOTBALL

The Empire Football League (EFL) is a semi-professional football league based in New York City. The EFL was founded in 2016 and has become one of the most competitive leagues in the northeast region of the United States. Teams compete each season for a championship, with playoffs taking place at the conclusion of the regular season.

There are several opportunities for you to get involved with an EFL team, including becoming part of a team's coaching staff or as a player. If you have experience playing football, you can contact teams directly to inquire about their openings or look for any tryouts they may have available. If you don't have football experience but would still like to be involved, there are many behind-the-scenes roles such as statisticians, marketing positions, and retail sales that teams sometimes need help with.

The league is owned by its member clubs, who each have equal ownership stakes in it. The Board of Directors is made up of representatives from each of these clubs and sets rules and regulations that oversee all aspects of play and business operations within the EFL.

The EFL is divided into two divisions – East and West – which both consist of eight teams each. Each division determines its own champion during its regular season and playoffs, with those champions competing against one another for the overall championship at the end of the year.

During a typical regular season, all teams will play 14 games - seven home games and seven away games - spread out over 16 weeks. In addition to these regular-season games, there are also playoffs at each divisional level followed by the championship game between East and West Division champions at season's end.

Away tickets are not required to attend an EFL game; however we do suggest purchasing tickets in advance if possible as some away matchups may sell out quickly due to popularity among fans or limited seating capacity at opposing stadiums. Tickets may be purchased on our website or through our mobile app prior to gameday if seats remain available.

Most stadium policies prohibit outside food or beverages from being brought into their stadium gates; however it depends on each stadium’s individual policy so please check ahead before attempting to bring items into any venue hosting an EFL game.
