What does EFAC mean in COUNCIL

Engineering Faculty Advisory Council (EFAC) is a faculty organization that advises and supports the engineering faculty in its mission to develop and maintain a top-tier engineering school. EFAC works closely with the Dean of Engineering, the Institute of Technology, and other stakeholders to ensure that all students have access to quality engineering education programs.

EFAC members act as advisors and advocates for engineering faculty, providing advice on teaching methodologies, curriculum development, research initiatives, and other academic matters. Additionally, members serve in a capacity as mentors for current students and alumni.

The members of EFAC are comprised of representatives from all departments within the School of Engineering. These representatives are elected by their departmental colleagues to serve two year terms on the council.

To become a member of EFAC you must be nominated by your department chair or by another faculty member within your department. If nominated, you will then need to complete an application and submit it to the Dean’s Office.

EFAC meets four times per year in order to discuss issues pertaining to engineering education and provide guidance for relevant programs within the college.

The Dean serves as an ex-officio member in all meetings of the council and also acts as a facilitator between various stakeholders when issues need to be discussed or resolved. In addition, the Dean appoints special advisors who may represent non-teaching staff groups during meetings if needed.

All members are required to attend each meeting; however exceptions can be made if prior arrangements are made with your colleagues on the council or with your department chair prior to each meeting date.

Travel is usually not necessary for attending meetings; however some circumstances may require travel depending upon where certain special events are held or when additional stakeholder input outside of our campus community is needed. In these cases an expense report should be submitted so that reimbursement may be approved accordingly.

Active participation from each member is expected when attending meetings since every opinion matters when making decisions regarding educational programs at our institution – so let your voice be heard! Additionally, members are expected adhere strictly adhere to ethical standards set forth by both our institution as well as that established by national accreditation boards.
