What does AFDF mean in FARMING & AGRICULTURE

The Agricultural and Fishery Development Fund (AFDF) is a fund created by the Government of India to finance agricultural and fisheries-related activities such as research, infrastructure development, technology transfer, etc. that will lead to increased productivity and improved livelihoods of farmers and fishermen.

The AFDF provides financial assistance to help farmers acquire resources such as inputs, machinery, land, credit facilities etc. to increase their production potential. It also assists in developing infrastructural facilities such as cold storages, fish farms, irrigation systems etc. for sustainable development of agriculture and fisheries.

The fund is open to individuals or organizations working on various agricultural or fisheries related activities such as research projects, development of infrastructure or technology transfer initiatives.

In order to be eligible for funding from the AFDF applicants must provide evidence of their capabilities in terms of technical competency & expertise; suitable project plan; sound financial management; cost effectiveness & sustainability; good governance measures; gender & socially-inclusive initiatives.

Applications are assessed based on their merits during a thorough review process conducted by a panel of experts in different fields (agriculture/fisheries). After assessment, successful applicants will be granted funds for the implementation of their projects according to the agreement entered into by them with the fund.

Yes – all approved applicants must ensure that funds granted through the AFDF must be used solely for purposes specified in their project proposals submitted to the fund before receiving approval. Further restrictions may apply depending on the type of activity supported by an applicant’s proposal.

Yes – you can apply more than once for funding provided this does not contravene any existing agreements entered into with previous grants received by you from AFDF. You should also bear in mind that multiple applications might not necessarily increase your chances of success as each application is judged on its own merit and proirity will be given to new projects rather than repeat applications.
