History of DSFM
DSFM was established in 1995 to provide educational services to French-speaking students living in Manitoba. At the time, there were only three French-language schools under the jurisdiction of Manitoba's government-run school boards. To provide more access to French language education, Action Marguerite was formed in 1994. This group operated independently from the government and offered classes at four sites across Winnipeg. In November 1995, after lengthy negotiations with the provincial government, Action Marguerite dissolved and reconstituted itself as "Division Scolaire Franco Manitobaine". The division has been providing quality French language education ever since.
