What does DPMR mean in MEDICAL

DPMR stands for Diploma in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

The DPMR program includes courses on diagnosis, treatment planning, wound management, physical modalities, therapeutic exercise, pain management strategies, electrotherapy, psychotherapeutic interventions and communication skills.

Individuals who have completed a Bachelor's degree or higher in Physiotherapy/Physical Therapy or Medicine can pursue a DPMR qualification.

Upon completion of the DPMR program, students can expect to demonstrate mastery of evidence-based practice approaches related to diagnosis and treatment of physical medicine & rehabilitation; evaluate patient health status utilizing both subjective & objective data; develop treatment plans & goals considering patient abilities/limitations; educate patients about self-care management; design & implement patient programs for prevention & maintenance of health; correctly apply physical modalities and therapeutic exercises applicable to treat patient conditions; administer electrotherapy; assess effectiveness of treatments & modify accordingly; manage co-morbidities associated with diseases/disabilities through pharmacological interventions when appropriate; monitor medications & adjust dosages as needed based on patient response; recite various methods used in pain assessment & discuss relationship between pain & function and psychotherapeutic interventions.
