What does DPHNO mean in NURSING

A District Public Health Nursing Officer (DPHNO) is a certified public health nurse who specializes in providing public health nursing services within their designated district. They are responsible for managing and directing public health nursing practice in their area.

DPHNOs must have at least a bachelor's degree in nursing with additional certification for public health nursing services. A master's degree in Public Health Administration may also be required depending on the organization.

As part of their duties, DPHNOs provide management and direction to public health nursing teams through hands-on care, assessment and planning, implementation of interventions, evaluation of service outcomes, and collaboration with other organizations within the district. In addition to management duties, they also participate in research activities related to population-based public health issues.
