What does AEGC mean in UNCLASSIFIED

ASEAN stands for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, a regional intergovernmental organization comprised of 10 Southeast Asian countries. It was established in 1967 to accelerate economic growth and social progress in the region.

The purpose of the AEGC is to provide advice and technical assistance on competition policy and law, with a focus on helping Member States implement policies that protect against anti-competitive behaviour while encouraging innovation.

Members of the AEGC include representatives from each of the ten ASEAN countries who have expertise in competition law, economics, or other related fields. Additionally, international organizations, academics, lawyers and other experts may participate in meetings at the invitation of Members.

The AEGC undertakes activities such as sharing best practices among its member countries, identifying areas for improvement in inter-country cooperation and enforcement efforts, developing legal frameworks for enforcing antitrust laws across Member States, providing technical assistance to Member States on implementing effective competition policies and advising on public outreach initiatives necessary to raise awareness about antitrust issues among businesses and consumers.
