What does DIA mean in FBI FILES

The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is a combat support agency and a member of the United States Intelligence Community. It provides military intelligence to warfighters, defense policymakers, and force planners in the Department of Defense and other US Government agencies.

The DIA provides a number of services to its clients including all-source analysis; scientific and technical intelligence; operational support; foreign military capabilities; weapons proliferation intelligence; counterintelligence products; deception analysis; warning assessment; space intelligence products; strategic forecasting, production management systems assistance and information technology systems support.

DIA is unique among US intelligence agencies in that it reports directly to the Secretary of Defense rather than to any other organization or director within the executive branch. Additionally, unlike other agencies that focus on either human or technical sources, the DIA’s mission requires it to integrate both types of sources into its analyses.

The DIA offers a wide range of positions for federal government employees as well as contractors ranging from analysts to scientists and engineers.
