What does AACSC mean in EDUCATIONAL

The Arkansas Apprenticeship Coordination Steering Committee (AACSC) is a group of representatives from the state government, businesses, and labor unions who are dedicated to improving the apprenticeship opportunities available throughout Arkansas. AACSC strives to create a suitable environment for entrepreneurs and companies to access quality apprenticeships and invest in their most valuable asset – their people.

AACSC provides assistance at every step of an apprenticeship program in Arkansas. We provide guidance on program design, promote best practices within established industry standards, and work with local employers to provide guidance on recruiting qualified applicants for their programs. Our members also provide educational resources and technical assistance for both prospective apprentices and employers in order to ensure the success of any new or existing apprenticeship program.

AACSC offers a variety of educational resources to those interested in learning more about apprenticeships or participating in them. Prospective apprentices can find information about current apprenticeships that are available, what qualifications they must meet to be accepted into one, and how they can apply. Employers can find advice on how to develop successful apprentice programs, recruit qualified candidates, and how to make the transition from apprentice to full-time employee as smooth as possible.

AACSC helps employers with all aspects of offering an effective apprentice program including developing job descriptions; helping to identify activities best suited for students; providing training modules; recruiting potential candidates; selecting the right ones; providing mentorship and evaluation during the program; developing an agreement between employer/apprentice; monitoring progress periodically; staying informed with state law changes ; as well as assisting with transitioning successful participants into permanent employment contracts upon completion.

To become a member you must complete an application form which is available on our website along with additional information about our organization’s requirements for membership eligibility. Once your application has been approved by our board of directors you will receive instructions on how to participate in meetings and projects initiated by the committee.

No, there is no cost associated with joining the Arkansas Apprenticeship Coordination Steering Committee (AACSC). All our members contribute their time voluntarily as they understand that everyone involved stands to benefit from an improved level of quality & service amongst all parties involved in this initiative - employees/candidates, employers & partners alike.

Yes, we require that all potential applicants have relevant experience with either managing or leading successful occupation related initiatives within their respective organizations or professions before being considered for membership.

Members typically come from fields related but not limited to business management, human resource management/development, state government agencies related to workforce development, education, career counseling & insurance.

Members typically meet once per quarter at locations determined by consensus agreement among members. Prior notification is sent out by email or direct mail before each meeting.

Membership applications are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the year by submitting your form online or directly mailing it into us.
