What does ADOA mean in AUSTRALIAN

The Australian Dispensing Opticians Association (ADOA) is a self-regulating optometry body formed to safeguard the public and promote ethical practice standards for dispensing opticians in Australia. The association has been in existence since 1997. Our mission is to ensure that all Australian dispensing opticians are well trained, knowledgeable, and ethical practitioners who are able to provide quality eye care services to their patients.

The ADOA works by creating regulations and standards for dispensing opticians as well as providing comprehensive education and training programs. We also advocate for changes in legislation and policy which furthers our goal of protecting the public’s eye health by encouraging responsible practices from dispensing opticians.

All qualified and registered dispensing opticians in Australia can become members of the ADOA. In order to be eligible you must either be a diploma graduate or hold a certificate IV level qualification in Optical Dispensing. Those with non-optical qualifications may be considered if they have completed additional coursework related to eyewear prescription, selection, fabrication, and fitting.
