What does ADMS mean in BRITISH MEDICINE

An Assistant Director of Medical Services is responsible for administrative management in a healthcare facility. They manage various departments such as finance, human resources, and patient services. Additionally, they are responsible for setting and enforcing standards of care while also monitoring quality control protocols.

To become an ADMS, one must possess advanced degrees in healthcare administration or a related field. Experience working within the healthcare system is also beneficial as an ADMS needs to understand the complexities of the industry. Leadership skills and problem solving abilities are also highly valued traits for this role.

Most Assistant Directors of Medical Services work in hospitals or other medical facilities that provide patient services or require administrative oversight. This could include long-term care facilities, mental health clinics, emergency rooms, universities offering medical programs and more.

Common tasks overseen by an ADMS include managing budgets related to their departments, overseeing personnel issues including recruitment and training new employees, creating policy documents/standards relevant to their departmental functions and conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.

While both roles involve overseeing operations within a healthcare organization, an ADMC is more likely to be directly involved with setting standards of care at the clinical level while a hospital administrator will be more focused on overall financial management such as budgeting and personnel issues.
