What does DADS mean in SYNDROMES

Appreciating Down Syndrome (DADS) is a group dedicated to supporting individuals and families with Down Syndrome. Founded in 2010, they are the nation's first organization created to honor, celebrate, and support this unique community of people.

The mission of DADS is to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for individuals with Down Syndrome through education, advocacy, and support. They serve as a resource for children with special needs by providing educational activities that promote self-esteem, independence, creativity and expression. Additionally, they work to advocate on behalf of those living with Down syndrome by participating in outreach programs and legislative initiatives aimed at improving healthcare access.

DADS offers many resources for families living with a child with down syndrome which include parent-to-parent networks for emotional support as well as financial assistance for medical expenses not covered by insurance companies or other sources. In addition to these services DADS also provides educational programs that help parents learn more about caring for their child's individual health needs as well as tips on how to create meaningful experiences together.

Anyone interested in getting involved can join the organization as either an individual supporter or corporate partner/sponsor. There are also volunteer opportunities available such as running educational programs or taking part in fundraising events or campaigns which help benefit those living with down syndrome.
