What does CYSO mean in MUSIC

The orchestra is open to students from grades 5-12 in the Inland Empire, Los Angeles County, Orange County and San Bernardino County areas. All members must have had prior experience playing in an ensemble or private lessons for at least one year before joining the CYSO.

Members of the Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra participate in rehearsals twice a month on Saturdays from 10 am - 1 pm in addition to additional sectional rehearsals once a week. These rehearsals help students learn their parts as well as build relationships with fellow musicians, hone their craft and create memorable performances together as an ensemble.

Supporters of CYSO may donate monetarily or volunteer their time with the organization. Each season there are various fundraisers that take place throughout the year such as bake sales and car wash events. The Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra began its journey in 1990 when it was established by parents wanting something better for their children's musical education than what was available at the time in local public schools. Since then it has been providing quality musical experiences for children from all backgrounds and ages throughout Southern California.

Given its size, Claremont Youth Symphony Orchestra is able to perform a wide range of pieces including repertoire from classical music, film music, pops tunes, Broadway hits and more!
