What does CYBD mean in COUNTIES

County YMCA Blue Dolphins (CYBD) is a year-round swim team that provides swimmers with the opportunity to develop their swimming potential and have fun in a organized, well-structured athletic program. CYBD has both competitive and recreational programs for swimmers of all ages and ability levels.

Swimmers must be at least 5 years old and no older than 18 years old to join the team at CYBD. Swimmers may also need to meet additional requirements based on the program they are joining, such as having completed certain swim lessons or being able to swim a certain distance.

No, you do not need to live in the county to be part of this team. However, you may need to reside within a certain geographic area depending on what activities your child will participate in. For younger swimmers just starting out, one practice per week is generally enough; however, more experienced swimmers should try for two practices per week while competitive swimmers should aim for at least three practices every week.

Yes! As part of participating with CYBD, swimmers get access to exciting competitive events such as invitationals, state championships and regional meets. Participating in these events gives our swimmers an amazing opportunity to test their skills against other teams from around the area and beyond!

Coaches must have prior experience working with youth athletes and/or swimming experience through either high school or college swimming teams as well as current certification/licensing from USA Swimming or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Programs. Depending on individual programs, additional certifications might also be needed (e.g., CPR/First Aid).

We utilize several pools around town including our home pool at CITY High School Aquatics Center as well as local community pools during peak season times when we need more space for practice hours due to large numbers of participants on our team. We also strive work with local schools that lack proper aquatic facilities whenever possible.

In addition to tuition payments, families may incur fees related such as facility fees (if applicable), travel costs (if competing outside of our home pool) equipment fees (such as fins or pull buoys) and registration costs associated with USA Swimming memberships or special event activities.
