What does CYAP mean in YOUTH

The goal of the CYAP is to work with young people from across the region and provide them with opportunities to become leaders in their communities. It also seeks to foster meaningful collaboration between CARICOM member nations, helping to create a more unified Caribbean region.

To be eligible forthe programme, applicants must be between 18-29 years old, have an interest in working for community development and youth engagement, and reside in a CARICOM member state or territory. Applicants are also expected to have an awareness of regional issues as well as demonstrate potential leadership ability.

The duration of the programme varies depending on activities but usually lasts up to two years. During this time Ambassadors take part in capacity building seminars, conferences and other activities related to regional affairs alongside fellow Ambassadors from other countries.

Applications are accepted online via a dedicated portal on the website of the Secretariat of CARICOM Youth Ambassadors. Prospective youth ambassadors should review all application requirements prior to submitting their applications including providing supporting documentation such as recommendations from an employer or academic.

Participating ambassadors receive exclusive access training sessions run by global experts on topics like project management, communication skills etc., exposure through media campaigns, networking events with government officials or business leaders and extensive travel throughout various countries within CARICOM.
