Communications Technician (technical Branch) Petty Officer 3rd Class is a rank in the U.S. Navy that is responsible for providing communications equipment and services to meet the operational requirements of the Navy.

Communication Technicians are responsible for supervising, installing, maintaining, and operating electronic communication systems, such as digital switching and cryptographic systems; configuring networks; ensuring proper security measures are in place; troubleshooting problems with communication systems; training personnel on utilizing communications equipment; developing reports regarding communications systems performance; updating equipment logs and records; and performing other related duties as assigned.

To qualify for this position, applicants must possess a wide range of technical knowledge related to communications systems such as Information Assurance or Security + certifications, knowledge in networking principles and protocols, understanding of electronics theory and circuit analysis plus they should have completed Apprenticeship School or equivalent Navy Enlisted Classification coding.
