What does CTF mean in UNIONS

The Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) is the largest teachers' organization in Canada, representing over 220,000 members from every province and territory.

CTF's primary role is to promote public education and defend the teaching profession through collective advocacy, professional learning opportunities, research initiatives and cooperative activities related to educational matters across Canada.

CTF represents all educators who are members of their respective provincial/territorial federations across Canada. This includes early childhood educators, pre-Kindergarten to grade 12 teachers, guidance counselors and other professionals who work in publicly funded education systems.

Through collaborative relationships with provincial teacher federations across the country, CTF works together to advocate for educational equity and improve public education while defending professional interests of all educators within each province/territory.

Some of CTF's initiatives include advancing gender equity within education; promoting international student exchange programs; engaging in policy development related to mental health services for students; providing access to professional learning opportunities for members; conducting research on issues related to quality teaching practices; and developing initiatives designed to reduce racial discrimination in schools.
