What does CSSR mean in SCHOOLS

Comprehensive Services and School Readiness (CSSR) is an educational program designed to increase the ability of young children to be successful in school. CSSR focuses on providing early childhood education, family services and support for primary grade teachers.

Parents are encouraged to take part in their child's success through the CSSR program. Involvement can include attending meetings or workshops, helping with homework or activities at home or school, participating in volunteer opportunities at school, advocating for your child's rights during meetings or responding quickly when there is concern about progress.

Schools that participate in the CSSR program gain access to additional resources such as supportive staff members who specialize in supporting specific student populations; specialized training for educators and administrators; updated curricula; increased collaboration between families, schools, community partners; increased access to mental health services; increased access to healthy meals; improved classroom environments; increased trauma-informed practices amongst staff members and more robust assessments which capture a student's individual needs.

The goal of the CSSR Program is to help students become socially, emotionally and academically successful by developing skills needed throughout their lives such as problem solving, communication, collaboration and critical thinking skills.
