What does CPS mean in UNIT MEASURES

Characters per second is measured by calculating the number of characters typed in a given period of time. Generally speaking, high CPS scores mean that someone has high typing speed and accuracy.

CPS measures text-based data input, such as programming code or game communication messages. It does not measure audio or video data transmissions such as streaming services.

In gaming, Characters Per Second (CPS) measures how quickly players can enter commands via keyboard presses or controller buttons to progress through the game or beat their opponents. A high CPS rate would enable them to react faster and better control their character on screen.

There is no one “optimal” rate - different types of games require different amounts of input speed depending on how quickly players must respond in order to be competitive with others. The overall goal however, should be to reach a balance between accuracy and speed when entering commands into the game.

While it may not seem like it at first glance, slower typing speeds can often translate into an advantage in certain types of games where the emphasis lies more on strategy than reflexes or reaction times. For example, turn based strategy games typically require more thought and planning than fast reflexes so having a slower typing speed might not be as much disadvantaging as it would be for other genres such as fighting or action games.
