What does ACTT mean in HOSPITALS

An ACTT stands for “Assertive Community Treatment Team.” This team consists of psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, social workers, vocational counselors and other mental health professionals who work together as a team to provide intensive support and services to individuals with mental illness.

ACTTs provide a wide range of treatments and services including individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, psycho-education, crisis intervention, medication management, rehabilitation planning and coordination with primary care providers. The goal of the team is to help the individual maintain stability in their environment and maximize their potential for maximum functioning in their daily lives.

Services may be available for adults with severe mental illness who are unable or unwilling to receive outpatient treatment or have difficulty accessing it due to barriers such as disability or transportation issues. All members of an ACTT typically receive training in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) or other skills-training models that have been proven effective at helping individuals manage symptoms related to severe mental illness. In addition, members may also attend seminars on topics related to recovery from serious mental illness or receive specialized training related specifically to the needs of their community or population served by the team.
